Russell Chaplin
Russell is a Director and co-founder of I-VREA. He has over 25 years of investment management, business development, business strategy and real estate strategy experience. Russell has been a Managing Partner for a Private Equity Real Estate Business and sat on the Board of Directors of three UK-regulated multi-asset investment management businesses.
He has held the roles of Managing Partner, Chief Investment Officer, Global Real Estate Strategist and Director of Research, at Europa capital LLP, Aberdeen, UBS Global Asset Management and Henderson Global Investors (Nuveen) respectively.
He also worked at Property Market Analysis (PMA), where he was the Investment Analyst and, at the University of Cambridge, he led a Joseph Rowntree Foundation sponsored research project into the relationship between Housing Association and Market Rents and assisted on a project for Eurotunnel Developments Ltd..
Russell was also an Associate Fellow of Said Business School at the University of Oxford and taught on the MBA elective, the MBA and open programmes. He was also a lecturer in Land Economy at the University of Cambridge, Director of Studies in Land Economy for various Cambridge colleges, and a visiting lecturer in Land Economy at the University of Aberdeen.
He has appeared on Bloomberg, CNN (Asia) and BNN (Canada), and has published articles in peer-reviewed journals and the property press. He has also been invited to provide input to the Bank of England’s Commercial Property Forum on a number of occasions.
He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge and a BSc (Hons.) in Estate Management from Heriot-Watt University. Russell is a Chartered Surveyor and member of RICS.
Vicki Law
Vicki is a Director and co-founder of I-VREA. Alongside her work at I-VREA, she has been a tutor for The Brilliant Club, a UK charity that exists to increase the number of pupils from underrepresented backgrounds progressing to highly-selective universities. She has worked, lived and studied in the UK, the Netherlands and France, holding research and investment analysis roles at Hammerson (Paris) and PRICOA (Rockspring, now Patrizia), and a client relations role at IPD (MSCI).
Vicki has also worked as a consultant to the Investment Property Forum (IPF), was a Lecturer in the University of Reading’s Land Management department and has taught on Henry Stewart courses regarding valuation and investment. For the IPF Education Trust, Vicki helped to implement a Ph.D. studentship programme. She also held a research post at the College of Estate Management looking at property depreciation and procurement.
She holds a PhD and MPhil in Land Management from the University of Reading and a BA (Hons.) in Humanities from the University of Greenwich. Vicki has published a number of papers resulting from her PhD work in both peer-reviewed journals and through industry-body research programmes.
Vicki is an Aquatics GB, British Swimming Referee, and has refereed across the East Region, including at the 2012 Olympic pool in Stratford.
